This ATV quad tour sees you zooming through the Dominican Republic's countryside on an adrenaline-pumping adventure. You'll rumble through rustic villages, visit an organic farm, dive into a cenote cave and end on a high at the palm-fringed Macao beach.After pick-up, we'll head to a ranch for a safety briefing and the lowdown on quads. First up is a coastal tour of Cotubanama National Park. You'll then stop at a natural pool for a dip before heading to an enticing beach for lunch and free time. Ramon, one of our local guides, says, ‘We work hard to protect our habitats and all the species that make Saona so special. We were the first country to protect manatees by law, and we've a turtle conservation programme here on the island, too.'Once you've made your way by private coach and fast boat to Saona, the sightseeing can begin in earnest. You'll cruise the shoreline of Cotubanama National Park while your guide points out the island wildlife. See the rocks of El Peñón, explore mangroves and glide through the Catuano channel to a fish and bird sanctuary. Ramon adds, ‘The park is named after Taino chief Cotubanama, who resisted Spanish conquest and fled to Saona. It's very symbolic of our history.'Next, it's time to cool off in the natural pool, formed by sandbanks in the open sea. Docking at one of Saona's fabulous beaches, you'll step off the boat for some quality time with your party – who's relaxing on the sand, and who's getting straight onto the beach volleyball pitch?
