1.Isla Mujeres
Some 15 minutes outside of Cancun lies the seriously dreamy beaches of this laid-back island - a Caribbean paradise filled with colorful marine life. It couldn’t be easier to book a tour, where you’ll have the chance to snorkel in the glittering reef before heading to a private beach club for a buffet lunch. You can then choose to spend the afternoon exploring the downtown area - a charming mix of shops and restaurants - or swim with dolphins (we highly recommend)! Whatever floats your boat, really!
2.Riviera Maya
A natural choice for families - not only for the idyllic beaches but the nature parks, cenotes and archaeological sites here to explore! A special shout out to XCaret - an eco-archaeological park filled with an abundance of life, such as a butterfly pavilion, aviary, aquarium, flamingoes, manatees, monkeys, jaguars and dolphins - that you can swim with! Kids will also love floating down a lazy river, climbing ancient Mayan ruins and snorkeling - not to mention Mundo de Niños (Children’s World). You also absolutely cannot miss the night show here, which celebrates Mexican and Mayan history, sport, dance and music. Quite simply an unforgettable experience.

3.Bosque de Chapultepec
A sprawling green space, the kids won’t know what to do first: Run around, meet and greet the squirrels, rent a pedal boat or check out the free zoo.
4.Xochimilco
A UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987 - you’ll soon see why. A popular activity to do with the kids in Mexico is hop on a canal ride through the matrix of natural waterways and enjoy the mariachis players and local bands that you’ll float past.
5.Mérida
The large central plaza offering a vibrant cultural scene is probably enough to entice the kids on its own (we’re talking music, dancing and a recreation of an ancient Mayan ball game!). You can, however, also discover archaeological sites, swim in a cenote and go flapping mad for flamingoes at a reserve.
6.Teotihuacan
If your kids go crazy for pyramids and temples, you must spend some time in this ancient Aztec city - another UNESCO World Heritage Site.
7.Jolly Roger Pirate Show
Ahoy there, me hearties - this is not something you’re going to want to miss if you’re doing Mexico with the kids. A three and a half hour tour on a pirate ship awaits - complete with a delicious dinner. A total treasure that any pirate would be proud to discover.
8.Puerto Vallarta
Combining traditional Mexican charm with a picturesque beach town, there’s loads on offer here for young and old alike, such as snorkeling, paddleboards, a play area, yoga and cooking classes (if you can get away on your own for a bit!). The CasaMagna Marriott - located near the downtown area - is one of the best kid-friendly resorts in Mexico, boasting a quiet beach, infinity pool, kids club and turtle release program!
9.Captain Hook Pirate Dinner Cruise
What’s this - another pirate ship? Well, what kids (and, ahem, adults, if we’re being honest) don’t love the idea of sailing the high seas for drinks, dinner, games and an epic pirate battle? If this floats your boat, say arrrrrr.
10.Six Flags
We shouldn’t need to say too much about this epic theme park, really, especially if you’re looking for something the kids will absolutely love. Offering something for everyone, no matter your age, height or level of bravery, spending the day here will definitely be time well spent while in Mexico City.
11.Xel-Há
Last but by no means least on our list is this water-based theme park - with a difference! The thrill-seekers among you won’t know what to do first: snorkeling in crystal water, floating gently down a river or zip line between rocks. Ready … set … get wet!
