Big Golovin Lane, the former name - Sobolev Lane - received by the name of a local landlord. Got its current name in 1906 for being in this area in the middle of the XVIII century, the chief of police department of the Moscow Office of Captain Ivan Golovin. This lane once was definitely more to distinguish it from the existing Golovin lane.
