On this tour we have a couple of options one can select from, the tour is based in an area called District Six which is one of the most historic Neighborhoods in Cape Town. All options include District Six because we believe you can't understand the city's past without having to understand District Six
You may ask "Why District Six?". The area is a former inner-city residential area where over 60,000 of its non white inhabitants were forcibly removed during the 1970s Apartheid regime. It was meant to be redeveloped for whites only, but as a result of international pressure it was left abandoned and empty. Walk by eerie old roads overgrown with weeds, and see what is still left today. This area is slowly redeveloping boasting quirky cafes and street art which serve as a powerful voice, telling us a story of the struggles and beauty of the area.
