The King William Historic District dates back to the 1840's when the first homesites were sold. This beautiful location is only minutes from the heart of San Antonio, and originally served as farmland. Located next to the meandering river, you will be captivated by the grandeur of these residences as you stroll along leafy streets in mottled sunlight. Hear the stories behind these historic homes where many of the city's most prominent citizens lived. See the home of the man who named the area King William, a beautiful residence built by the man who created the first ice cream soda, the refuge of the eccentric socialite who was buried in her Ferrari, and the house where the inventor of the corn chip resided. Also, there's the magnificent home that had the first electric lights in San Antonio, the house that was the home of a famous tenor, and another where a successful author lived.
