In 1791, Philadelphia, then the nation’s capital, played host to the passage of the whiskey excise legislation. It’s also where a first-term President Washington issued a proclamation against the Whiskey Rebellion’s rebels. Little could anyone have envisioned then how amazing the region’s drinking scene would become today.
