Kauai is famous for many things but perhaps none more than being one of the leading natural sanctuaries for the Green Sea Turtle. With a lifespan of over 100 years and sizes exceeding 5 feet in length, they are truly a sight to behold. In Kauai, the Honu seem to have embraced the Aloha spirit, frequently greeting divers with curiosity and interest. Having been protected by the endangered species act since 1979, the Hawaiian Green Sea Turtle has very little fear of the divers that visit their home. We're fairly certain they would throw you a "shocka" as they swam by if only, they had apposable thumbs.
With over 1,250 endemic species in the Hawaiian Islands, the Honu is just one of the many exciting animals you will experience on your tour. Macro photographers will be thrilled by the vast diversify of nudibranch, cowries, pipefish, and colorful crustations. Explorers will love the variety of eels, schooling blue striped snapper, perching hawk fish, and shapeshifting octopus.
