Along the famous Ocean Drive, just off the beach, your tour begins. It tells you the story of how the Art Deco architectural movement began in Miami. The voice of a local Miami personality takes you on this self-guided journey. You'll hear a special commentary honoring the efforts of the Art Deco Welcome Center and the Design Preservation League. While admiring the Clevelander on Ocean Drive, you'll learn about the history of Miami's founding. The tour then takes you to a well-known but sad story, that of the murder of Gianni Versace, as you stop in front of his beautiful villa Casa Casuarina. You'll pass by the Tides Hotel and learn about the history of the Great Depression and how it gave rise to the beginning of Art Deco, an artistic movement that emerged in the 1920s. Your tour ends with you admiring the Leslie Building on Ocean Drive and other buildings in the area.
