The experience involves moving a long journey on foot in search for endangered mountain gorillas. Mountain gorilla trekking is mostly done in thick forests where you are guided by a trained ranger. Trekking might take a maximum of 8 hours but can even be 30 minutes depending on the location of the gorilla family..
On the day of trekking, wake up as early as 6:30am for breakfast at and proceed for briefing until 8.00am. Start the trek with simple forest hikes through designated trails, but may later become strenuous depending on the weather and how far the gorillas have moved, but the epic one hour encounter with a habituated family is truly refreshing.
Later, return back to the starting point with fellow trekkers, meet your guide or have a quick picnic lunch and in the evening you may take a short tour to the Batwa community to enjoy their stories, ancient culture and dances.
Wheelchair accessible. Public transportation options are available nearby. Travelers should have at least a moderate level of physical fitness
