Day 1: ARRIVAL
Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport / Other Pickup Destination, where you will meet a Majali guide, and be transferred to the hotel. In the evening there will be a briefing with our managers, who will also make sure you are prepared to trek Kilimanjaro on the Rongai Route for 7 days by checking your gear and giving you a brief breakdown of the trip.
Note: Check-in starts at 2:00 PM
Day 2: NALEMURU GATE TO SIMBA CAMP
A guide and support crew will arrive at the hotel in the morning in order to meet you and hold another briefing. Then you will travel by vehicle to the northern entrance of Kilimanjaro National Park, known as Nalemuru Gate (2,020 m). After another few hours of formalities with the park rangers at the gate and you will be on the trail. The trail begins near the Kenyan border, where we will spend the entire day hiking through the forest before reaching camp. The Simba camp is located in a transition zone between the lowland forest and the moorlands.
Trekking from Nalemuru Gate to Simba Camp:
Change in Elevation: Nalemuru (2,020 m) — Simba Camp (2,625 m)

Day 3: TREKKING FROM SIMBA CAMP TO SECOND CAVE TO KIKELEWA CAVE
An early wakeup and breakfast. The first part of today’s trek is a steep climb to the Second Cave Camp ( 3,480 m ). It will only take around 3 hours to reach camp. While there we will enjoy lunch and the scenery of the Kibo Volcano and the Eastern Ice Fields. After lunch we will continue to Kikelewa Cave ( 3,630 m ), where we will see Giant Heathers and wildflowers. After going through the jagged peaks of Mawenza we will reach camp where we will enjoy dinner and rest.

Day 4: KIKELEWA CAVE TO MAWENZI TARN CAMP
After breakfast, we will have a short but steep climb up a grassy slope to Mawenzi Tarn Camp ( 4,330 m ). It is located at the foot of Mawenzi Volcano and our landscape will change dramatically from the moorelands to barren volcanic plains. After reaching the camp we will enjoy lunch and spend the remainder of the day exploring the area.

Day 5: MAWENZI TARN CAMP TO MAWENZI RIDGE AND BACK TO CAMP
Today is an acclimatization day to ensure that you have a successful summit. We will hike to Mawenzi Ridge ( 4,389 m ) where we will enjoy epic views of Kibo and Mawenzi.

Although you end the day at the same elevation you began at, this day is very important for acclimatization and will help you prepare for the summit day. .

Day 6: MAWENZI TARN TO SCHOOL HUT OR KIBO HUT
Early wake up, then we begin a gradual climb across the lunar desert also known as the ”saddle.” We will either camp at the Kibo Huts or the School hut depending on the crowd at Kibo. After we arrive at camp you will need to sleep and rest as much as possible because at night we will begin the climb to the summit.
Trekking from Mawenzi Tarn Camp Camp to Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp

Day 7: ASCENT TO UHURU PEAK & DESCENT TO HOROMBO CAMP
Very Early wakeup ( midnight), We depart from camp and begin the climb to the summit. Each pair of climbers will get a personal guide for the entire ascent to monitor your physical and mental conditions. Once we reach Gilman’s Point ( 5,861 m ) we will only have 2 hours left until we reach the summit. After your successful ascent to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m ) - the top of Mount Kilimanjaro and the last point of the climb on the RongaiRoute, you will have reached the highest point in all of Africa -- CONGRATULATIONS!
From the Summit, we will begin our descent to Kibo Hut and enjoy a warm lunch. After lunch, we will hike down to the Horombo Camp ( 3,730 m ) and later in the evening we will enjoy our last dinner on the mountain and a well earned sleep.

Hiking distance: 6 km ascent / 16 km descent
Hiking time: 6 -8 hours ascent / 4-6 hours descent
Day 8: HOROMBO CAMP TO MARANGU GATE
After a warm breakfast, you will head for the park's exit: Marangu Gate (1,860 m). After your descent the whole group will gather at the hotel where we will present you with your commemorative certificates.

Hiking distance: 18 km
Hiking time: 5-6 hours
Day 9: Hotel Checkout & Departure Flight
Hotel checkout is at 11am. From there a Majali guide will transfer you to the airport for your flight.
