Moshi is the administrative centre of the Kilimanjaro region and home to business-minded Chagga people. To encounter the traditions of the gatekeepers of Kilimanjaro take a day to the backdrops of Moshi with our guide and ride the Dala Dala (local transportation) to the tiny village of Materuni. The ride itself will already be an experience that will draw you closer to the local population. A Dala Dala easily holds 30 people or more though designed for 16. That said be prepared for an unforgettable adventure. Once you reach your destination learn everything about the fine arts of mild coffee and produce your own from tree to cup. On a clear day you can overlook Moshi and the whole Kilimanjaro region from Materuni. Pass coffee and banana plantations on your trek. The refreshment in Kilimanjaro’s glacier water and relaxation on the water banks are the perfect finish to this day trip.
