South of Hua Hin lies Ko Thalu, a tiny island that's home to palm-fringed beaches, powdery white sand and cool, turquoise water – this is Thailand at its best. Add to that its shallow waters teeming with fish and marine life and it becomes perfect for a spot of snorkelling. Rounding off the day is a lunch on the beach. You'll set off bright and early for a morning's drive to the port, where your speedboat awaits, then whizz over to Ko Thalu to begin the snorkelling adventure. Jump in and, after a little instruction, you'll be away exploring the reef in no time. To find the best spots you'll board a raft and your guide will manoeuvre you according to the current. After a busy morning, lunch is served on the beach. How you spend the rest of the day is up to you – explore the island or relax on the beach and soak up the rays. But our suggestion is to visit the sea turtle nursery and see the protected hatchlings.
