The area offers the chance to see dolphins bobbing along the surface and it is known around the world for its sea-turtle population.
The vegetation is predominately mangrove, with tangled wetland forests stifling the shore, beyond which are rugged volcanic hills. The long neglected islands host modest sandy coves and small fishing communities. It is also the home of some of the country’s best beaches are in the area.
