The Stockholm Archipelago is as much a part of the city as its streets, monuments, and people. The shift in scenery from the city center to the heart of the archipelago is breathtaking. A boat tour through the Stockholm Archipelago is a must-do when visiting the Swedish capital.

The tour departs from Skeppsbrokajen, near Bröd och Salt, in Gamla Stan. Along the way, the English-speaking guide will share stories about the sights you pass, the Swedish royal family, local traditions and the boat itself. There’s also an onboard bar where you can buy drinks and snacks.

The boat takes you from central Stockholm to Vaxholm Fortress and back. Along the route, you’ll get a fantastic view of the archipelago and its natural beauty. Some of the islands and sights you’ll pass include Fjäderholmarna, the Nyckelviken Nature Reserve, Stora Höggarn, and Granholmen.
