Begin with a visit to the Curtea de Argeș Monastery, an architectural gem and spiritual heart of Romania. Dating back to the 16th century, this ornate structure is famous for its stunning Byzantine and Renaissance influences. The monastery is also the final resting place of Romanian royalty, adding to its aura of reverence and mystery.
Next, journey to the historic Poenari Fortress, once a strategic stronghold of Vlad the Impaler, the inspiration for Dracula. The fortress is under renovation and cannot be visited inside. We'll only see it from the outside.
Visit Vidraru Dam, one of Romania's engineering marvels. This towering structure, built in the 1960s, holds back the glistening waters of Lake Vidraru and offers a panoramic view of the Făgăraș Mountains. Standing atop the dam, you’ll feel dwarfed by the vastness of nature around you—a perfect finale to a day filled with legends and landscapes.
Public transportation options are available nearby. Suitable for all physical fitness levels. The Poienari Fortress is currently under renovation and you cannot visit the interior.
