Enjoy a scenic luxury boat trip out in the open sea with a regular catch of cod, pollock, haddock, and mackerel. The tour departs from Svolvær harbor, the main town of the Lofoten Islands.Cruising Lofoten and out to Vestfjorden, you can watch out for orca, porpoise and minke whales from the top deck lounge. Once out in Vestfjorden, you will begin your fishing adventure. Grab a rod and listen up. Your captain will teach you how to cast, jig and reel in your line. Norway offers some of the best cod fishing in the North Atlantic. In Norwegian waters you can find two types of cod, if your jigging is good, you may catch either a coastal cod or a Norwegian-Arctic cod, locally called Skrei. Skrei means "wanderer", referring to the 1000 km journey the cod makes each year from the Barents Sea to the coast of Northern Norway. The Lofoten Islands are one of the most important spawning grounds for Norwegian-arctic cod.On the return cruise, enjoy a warm vegetable soup with fresh bread. If you catch a fish, it can be cooked and added to your soup. Your captain and first mate will share stories about their fishing adventures, the history and biology of the Norwegian cod, and answer any other questions you may have about Norwegian fishing. With your fish cleaned, you can also take your catch and enjoy it at your next meal.
