On board our tuk tuks, we depart from the centre of Lisbon, and the ride to Belém takes you along a stunning riverside route, with the iconic 25 de Abril bridge serving as a backdrop.
Upon arrival in Belém, we can see the famous Belém Palace, which is the official residence of the President of the Portuguese Republic. After passing the guards, we take you to the famous Pastéis de Nata factory, which dates back to 1837. It was the monks of the Jerónimos Monastery, right next door, who invented this cake that is now so famous and appreciated all over the world.
It was from Belém that Vasco da Gama set out to discover the sea route to India.
