The place where the Fátima Sanctuary is located, Cova da Iria, was an unknown place in the municipality of Ourém until 1917. A religious event changed the history and the importance of this place, three shepherd children, Jacinta, her brother Francisco and her cousin Lúcia witnessed successive apparitions of Our Lady of Fatima.
