Following in the footsteps of John Paul II in the vicinity of Krakow, you will have the opportunity to see, above all, the town of Wadowice, where the Pope's family home and many sentimental places related to his childhood are located. To the nearby Kalwaria Zebrzydowska, Karol Wojtyła and his father often went to church services and later, as pope, visited the Sanctuary of the Passion of Christ and Mary. This charming place is also on the UNESCO world list of monuments.
In Krakow itself, it is impossible to bypass the Łagiewniki district - in this area part of the life of young Charles during the occupation passed, and this is where the sanctuaries of the Divine Mercy (with the tomb of sister Faustina) and Pope John Paul II himself are located.
Public transportation options are available nearby. Infants are required to sit on an adult’s lap. Travelers should have at least a moderate level of physical fitness. A dress code is required to enter places of worship and selected museums. No shorts or sleeveless tops allowed. Knees and shoulders MUST be covered for both men and women. You may risk refused entry if you fail to comply with these dress requirements. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended.
