Bhaktapur Durbar Square is one of the largest medieval period Durbar Square in Kathmandu valley. Locally, Bhaktapur is also known as Khwopa and Bhadgaun. It is located in the Bhaktapur district which is 13 km away from the capital city Kathmandu. Bhaktapur is like an open museum, one can observe the historical architecture, monuments, shrines and artistic wooden and metal works in and around the area. Bhaktapur Durbar square also enlisted as UNESCO world heritage site in 1979.
During the sightseeing in Bhaktapur, we will explore the main Durbar Square, Taumadhi Square, Dattatreya Square and Pottery Square. If time allow do not forget to visit Dattrata temple. All these heritages sites has collected the masterwork of metal, wood, pottery, and stone arts etc. Bhaktapur is also famous for Newari food and yogurt, try some typical Newari food for your lunch.
