Gosaikunda is the divine place of Hindus, Bonpo and Buddhist. The region consists of several 108 holy lakes. The lake Gosainkunda lies at an altitude of 4,380m. Every year, thousands of pilgrims including Shamans from surrounding districts visit the lake area during the festival time of Janai Purnima. The major festival if Janai Purnima that occurs on the month of August. People believe that taking a dip into the holy water of the lake washes off their sins.
