Explore the cultural and historical richness of Mexico City with a guided tour of its best attractions and monuments in the Historic Center. The city of Tenochtitlan was the religious and political center of the Mexicas, and its Templo Mayor or Huey Teocalli was the building most important of that great pre-Hispanic city. There the four directions of the Earth and the axis of the three levels of life converged: heaven, earth and the underworld.
Two sacred mountains were represented in the Huey Teocalli: the Cerro de los Mantenimientos or Tonacatépetl, to the north, arsenal of human food, and Coatépec, Cerro de las Serpientes, to the south, cradle of Huitzilopochtli.
In our second stop we will visit El Zócalo, also known as the Plaza de la Constitución. Admire the art nouveau exterior of the Palacio de Bellas Artes, and then head towards the Palacio Nacional. This centuries-old construction was built on the grounds of Moctezuma's former residence.
