This is a tour of Mdina, the old capital city, and its suburb Rabat with a detailed explanation of the Good Friday and Holy Week traditions along with the normal commentary of these two beautiful towns.
The professional tour guide, who also lives in Rabat and knows the place inside out, will be taking you through the main streets but also the backroads of both Mdina and Rabat. Along the route we will visit a number of temporary exhibitions related to Holy Week, we will visit a number of churches to see the Altar of the Repose including an incredible 18th century one and we will also be seeing the lifesize statues which later on in the evening will be carried on shoulderback through the streets.
Due to Christian rules of not eating certain foods in Lent, we have a number of traditional foods which are eaten only at this time of the year. We will be tasting qassatat, pies, fried dough with anchovies, honey sweets, carob sweets and the bread of the apostles all included in the price.
