What To Expect

The Jewish population resided in Morocco for several thousand years influencing trade and culture, evidenced in each city of Morocco where you will find a Mellah - the old Jewish quarter or ghetto. Of these culturally iconic locations, the Mellah is preserved and remains alive in Marrakech. Walking the Mellah, your guide will explain the history and significance of the Jews in Marrakech while exploring the quarters distinct architecture, meeting with herb and spice traders, visiting the market and several other enclaves. We will visit the Slat al-Azama Synagogue, and the Jewish Cemetery ( no visit on Saturday).
Morocco has existed since ancient times with different civilizations occupying the region because of its critical location. We are locals who live in Marrakech and we know the whole city. A personalized itinerary can include other stops in the Medina such as Jamaal Elfna square and shopping or just discovering the amazing workshops of handicraft inside souks of Marrakech.
