Almost all the points of interest of Chefchaouen are located in the medina.
The medina is quite small and the alleys are unique, colorful and pleasant to walk around.Unlike the other overload Medinas such those in Marrakech or Fez, in the Medina of Chefchaouen you can walk calmly, and enjoy its pace with no disturbance of mopeds or donkeys loaded with skins!
You will therefore be able to discover freely most of the streets of the medina of Chefchaouen. The key point to start with is the place Uta el-Hammam, the Medina heartbeat; on this square discover the 15th century Grand Mosque and the famous kasbah museum surrounded by beautiful gardens and houses a variety of antique weapons and musical instruments…that date back to the early 18th century. To the north east, on the edge of the medina, you find the Ras el Ma where you can see women washing their clothes, in the old fashioned way.
Very calm, and with nice little coffees, at the edge of the water!
