Buddhima, a warm and friendly host will pick you up from your Kandy hotel and drive you 30 min to her home. Sri Lankan cuisine is a blend of spices, flavors and colors and Buddhima is delighted to share her passion for Sri Lankan cuisine with people visiting her beautiful country. Buddhima, her mother, and two children Mandil and Sandun (when they are home) will welcome you into their rustic, family home in the countryside of Kandy. They live in a small village near the Gadaladeniya temple in a leafy neighborhood. Roll up your sleeves and learn to cook in her small kitchen Sri Lankan curries using her mother's secret recipes. Your private cooking class will last an hour - you will learn to make dhal (lentils cooked in coconut milk), fish or cassava (tapioca) curry and a regional vegetable dish like banana flower. Armed with a wealth of knowledge about the spices and ingredients used in Sri Lankan cooking, enjoy the meal you helped prepare with the whole family over refreshing beer!
Infants and small children can ride in a pram or stroller. Service animals allowed. Public transportation options are available nearby
Buddhima will meet you at the concierge desk of your hotel and will drop you back to your hotel after the experience is over. She will use either a tuk tuk or van (depending on the number of guests) for the pick up and drop off.
