*About Bukchon
Bukchon is located north of Cheonggyecheon Stream and Jongno and embodies the spirit of our Korean ancestors in its 600 year-old urban history. Bukchon was traditonally a residential area of the nobility during the joseon period and did not undergo any significant changes until the 1920s. The term of Hanok was originally used to refer to all traditonal Korean buildings, including the grand architectural works of royal palaces. The standard judgement for 'hanok' are "tiled roof" and "wooden framing", and the Bukchok village is one of the most representative areas that still maintaining the composition and beauty of traditional 'hanok' in Seoul city.
