The purpose of Kyo ryori is to deepen understanding of Kyo ryori by learning traditional cooking methods and cultural background as well. Another objective is to experience Japanese culture through the visual and sensory senses by learning to cook in a Japanese garden and in a space surrounded by a Japanese atmosphere.

The route to the Phoenix Room of Meiji Jingu Shrine is as follows.
1,Pass through the Otorii (Grand Gate) on the south approach to Meiji Jingu Shrine.
2,Pass through the Minamishinmon Gate and turn left at the water bowl.
3,The building on the left before the main shrine building is the Houou-no-Ma.
