Peggy Guggenheim collected art from around the world throughout her lifetime and brought together masterpieces of the greatest 20th-century artists under one roof. Her collection was inaugurated as a public museum in 1980 with pieces from modern Italian, European and American art.The Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice is made up of the pieces brought together in a lifetime dedicated to finding and purchasing art as well as collections that were later generously donated to her foundation.
