Our itinerary begins in the ancient city centre, where more than 25 centuries of art and history come together in the shadow of looming Mount Vesuvius. Narrow streets studded with opulent churches and palaces are the order of the day, as we stroll through colourful piazzas and along the ancient Greek street of Spaccanapoli that has divided the city centre in two for thousands of years. In the Duomo we'll admire the Baroque masterpieces of the Chapel of the Treasure of San Gennaro, whilst in nearby Pio Monte della Misericordia, we’ll get the chance to admire one of Caravaggio’s greatest masterpieces. In Via San Gregorio Armeno, we’ll stroll amongst the shops where craftsmen sell their nativity scenes, then explore the incredible majolica cloister of the monastery of Santa Chiara, After lunch we will travel to Vomero by the famous Naples funicular, where the impenetrable medieval fortress of Castel Sant'Elmo dominates the landscape all around from its lofty perch.
