Skip the line at Castel Sant'Angelo, ascend to its magnificent terrace for a one-hour visit and discover one of the most beautiful views of Rome from the highest accessible point of the castle. The name 'Terrazza dell'Angelo' is linked to the colossal statue of the Archangel Michael, made to commemorate the vision that Pope Gregory the Great had in 590, on the occasion of the end of the plague in Rome. The view opens almost 360 degrees over the historic center of Rome, which lies at the foot of the castle, beyond the Tiber. The castle is faced by Sant'Angelo bridge, one of the most scenic in Baroque Rome due to the sequence, designed by Bernini, of ten statues of angels holding the symbols of Christ's passion.Moving your eyes from left to right, you will recognize the gigantic bulk of the Palazzaccio (the Palaces of Justice), the greenery of Villa Borghese, Quirinale, Pantheon, Capitoline Hill, Aventine Hill and the Janiculum while, turning towards St. Peter's Basilica, you will appreciate the Passetto di Borgo route, which connects Castel Sant'Angelo to the Vatican Palaces. After this fantastic experience, you will be free to visit the remaining levels of the castle in total autonomy.
