The name of the district "Trastevere" literally means "Beyond the Tiber".
In ancient times, Jews and Liberti (slaves who had bought their freedom) lived here. Trastevere is one of the most beautiful and ancient neighborhoods of the city, rich in history, legends and underground sites.
We will start our journey by discovering the curiosities of Trastevere, such as the oldest synagogue in Rome.
We will visit extraordinary and unusual church undergrounds and walk in the small ancient alleys. We will then cross the Tiber River to the Tiber Island where, believe it or not, an order of monks still maintains today, under their monastery, an ancient underground cemetery, where there are the preserved remains of many dozens of skeletons (Not visitable).
Public transportation options are available nearby. Suitable for all physical fitness levels
Appointment outside the church, in the front area.
