What To Expect
Begin your tour with one of the most fascinating yet little known sites of ancient Rome, just a few steps from the Roman Forum. After a short break, meet your guide just steps from the Colosseum, where you’ll want to take some pictures of the spectacular view before we descend to the entrance. Once inside, your guide will paint an accurate picture of the gladiator games that took place in the Roman empire’s most impressive arena, helping you to decipher between fact, fiction, and the images portrayed by big-screen Hollywood blockbusters.
Follow your guide outside the arena and travel even further back in time as you enter the Roman Forum, the true heart of ancient Rome with monuments dating as far back as the 7th century BC. Learn of the legendary founding of Rome on the Palatine Hill and how a she-wolf rescued and nursed the young twins Romulus.

Public transportation options are available nearby. Specialized infant seats are available. Suitable for all physical fitness levels. The ground in the Roman Forum is composed of large stone or dirt pathways that can be difficult to navigate with strollers or wheelchairs. Please provide the full names of all travelers when booking. Failure to present a voucher with all travelers' full names at the ticket office prior to entry may result in denied entry to the Colosseum and Roman Forum.. Tour departs rain or shine. Due to the route covered and/or the means of transportation used, it is not possible to participate in this tour using a wheelchair, scooter, or other aid. Please contact us to inquire about customized tour options for guests with mobility challenges. Contact us to determine the best way to visit Ancient Rome with small children or guests confined to wheelchairs. Wear comfortable shoes for walking. Wear a hat and sunblock during summer months. Bring water if you will tour on a hot day. The start time advertised is the start time for your guided Colosseum tour. Your visit to the Mamertine Prison will occur earlier in the day (approx. 1:30pm). Only small bags or purses are allowed in the Colosseum. No large bags or weapons allowed, and there is no cloakroom available. Each traveler must present a valid passport or ID document that matches the name provided at the time of booking for successful entry to the Colosseum and Roman Forum.

Meet 15 minutes before the start of the tour at the arch of Constantine. There will be a representative holding an ItaliaTours sign to greet you. An official form of ID will be required to enter the Colosseum.
