On this half-day tour of the catacombs outside Rome you will visit the Catacombs of San Callisto and learn why burial in this way became a necessity.
You will walk a part of the Via Appia Antica, the so-called ‘Appian Way’, one of Ancient Rome’s oldest and most important roads’ used for military expeditions and along which thousands of slaves were crucified during Spartacus’ revolt.
You will also see the Circus of Maxentius and one of Rome’s aqueducts, vital for providing enough water for the capital of an empire, learning about its complicated structure and construction.
Infants and small children can ride in a pram or stroller. Public transportation options are available nearby. Suitable for all physical fitness levels. Not recommended for claustrophobic people
