In Piazza Duomo stands the imposing Cathedral of Siena and right here you will begin the visit. After an introduction about the extraordinary façade decorated with statues depicting philosophers, prophets and sibyls that seem to talk to each other, your guide will tell you the story of why the Cathedral was unfortunately left unfinished.The visit continues inside, where you will have the opportunity to admire the inlaid marble mosaic floor, the wonderful statues of Michelangelo, the Chapel of St. John the Baptist that houses a work realized by Donatello, the Chigi Chapel of Bernini, frescoes and paintings. The visit inside the beautiful Piccolomini Library is an unique experience. The frescoes realized by Pinturicchio and Raffaello depict scenes of the life of Enea Silvio Piccolomini who became Pope Pius II.
During the period when the floor has been uncovered, the guide will also show and explain you some of the panels under the dome designed by the Sienese artist Domenico Beccafumi.
