Enjoy a guided visit to Palazzo Pitti, one of the most important landmarks of Florence, famous for being the Medici's last lavish residence.
You will start by visiting the Palatine Gallery, a museum housed in Pitti Palace which, along with the Boboli Gardens, is part of the Uffizi Galleries. We will then move on to the Royal Apartments (temporarily closed).
The Palatina Gallery is located on the piano nobile of the palace, divided into 28 rooms, and hosting a famous display of paintings belonging to the Grand Dukes of Tuscany. This collection is very unique as it respects the taste of past centuries, with the paintings placed in several rows, selected according to decorative criteria, and not by period and school.
You will admire the famous private collection of the Medici family in their last residence, which includes important masterpieces by Botticelli, Titian, Rubens, Caravaggio, and many other Italian and European painters from the 15th to the 17th century.
You will discover the history of the palace and its inhabitants, from the Medici family to the Lorraines to the King of Italy, as it became the residence of the King when Florence was chosen as the capital of Italy for five years, from 1865 to 1870.
