Landmannalaugar is one of the most visited places in the highlands of Iceland. The colorful rhyolite mountains, a rock type that creates a spectrum of amazing colors. A raven black lava field of Laugahraun and the endless options of beautiful hiking trails, combined with a after hike soak in the hot natural pool makes Landmannalaugar a unreal place to visit.
Originally, those who stopped at Landmannalaugar, were settlers crossing the barren highlands of Iceland, but today, mostly tourists after an exciting day.
On the way to and from Landmannalaugar, we will stop at a few places to stretch our legs and take in the beauty of the more remote places Iceland has to offer. (a few sights listed down below.) And some we see from a distance during our drive.
When we arrive in Landmannalaugar, we will have a option of some light/moderate hiking, soak in the hot spring, or both. At least everyone gets enough time to enjoy the area.
