Don't miss out on this guided volcano tour where your guide literally takes you inside a dormant volcano, through the top crater and to the bottom of its magma chamber where molten magma once flowed.Enjoy an hour long hike and descend 120 meters into the volcano in an open cable lift. Imagine the size of the volcano and visualise the ground space inside the volcano, which is equivalent to around three basketball courts in size and the crater could easily fit the Statue of Liberty.Following an eruption, magma chambers usually collapse but in Þríhnúkagígur the lava drained out like water from a pipe, leaving the volcano's plumbing system empty. The Þríhnúkagígur crater is therefore one of the few places in the world and a unique natural phenomenon where you can enter a magma chamber.

* The maximum number of participants for this tour is 18 people
* Pleas wear proper walking/hiking shoes and warm clothes - trainers and jeans are not sufficient
* No knowledge of hiking or climbing is required
* This is not a tour for those with limited mobility as the surface is hilly and uneven
* Moderate fitness level required as you'll be hiking for a total of 7km, across an uneven ground in a mountainous area, with some increase in elevation by the crater‘s rim
