Hyderabad, the city of the Nizams, is the capital of the South Indian state of Telangana. The 12th century Golconda Fort is situated on the top of a hill, seven miles from Hyderabad. This sprawling fort complex contains some splendid ruins of palaces and mosques. It is said that the fort remained impregnable throughout its history.
