What To Expect
Explore the oldest copper mines in the world in Timna tour from Eilat, an area of Israel's magnificent Negev Desert rich in fascinating history and incredible geology. A stunning desert reserve with breathtaking scenery, protected natural space, admiring its towering sandstone cliffs, including King Soloman's Pillars.
It is a horseshoe-shaped valley with very steep cliffs and have Timna's significant archaeological heritage. Remains dating back to the Neolithic period have allowed us to better understand what prehistoric society in the Middle East was like thousands of years ago.
Because of its location, the Timna mines, from which metals, especially copper, have been extracted since Ancient Egyptian times. Learn about the mysterious links between the mines and Ancient Egyptian mythology.
