Public transportation options are available nearby. Not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries. Not recommended for pregnant travelers. Not recommended for travelers with poor cardiovascular health. Travelers should have at least a moderate level of physical fitness. Private arrival can be organised on request.. We recommend the trek with children from 5 years of age or older. If you would like to do the trek with younger children, our guide & team will support you in carrying them!
If you stay in the Ecolodge or would like to come there on your own before the trek, please wait at the reception. Your guide will be there at 9 am, wearing a T-shirt with our Logo, trekking clothes and black rubber shoes, so you can easily recognize him.
On request we are happy to arrange a pick up at Medan Airport or any other places in North Sumatra for you (please get in touch for more details).
One day before the trek, your jungle guide will meet you at your guesthouse to get to know you and give you a short introduction about the tour.
The next morning you will meet your guide about 15 minutes before you start the trek into the rainforest. If you stay at the Ecolodge or at a hotel nearby, the entrance to Gunung Leuser National Park is just a few minutes walk away. In case your accommodation is located outside of Bukit Lawang in the rural area, your guide will pick you up by motorbike or tuktuk, so you can start trekking in Bukit Lawang at 9 am.
Tipp: We recommend using mosquito repellent before we start our trek into the rainforest.
