To our uninitiated eyes, the life of a Balinese farmer looks idyllic and peaceful and the rice fields that appear so serene, actually require a lot of work to plant, maintain and harvest. The people of Manggis are blessed with fertile soil and a fertile climate, but this is small lot farming and the quantity and quality of the rice produced dictates the prosperity of the year ahead.
The work that we have been doing since the project's inception aims to mitigate some of the risks and provides an improved path to market for the farmer's produce, thereby strengthening dignity and prosperity to the community.
