A walking tour includes a visit to the Cathedral of St. Anastasia, the finest example of Romanesque architecture in Zadar with a notable W front from 1324. It is dedicated to St. Anastasia whose stone sarcophagus is in the apse to the left of the high altar. Further on your way you will pass by the Church of St. Donatus which is believed to have been built by Bishop Donatus on Roman foundations at the beginning of the 9th century. This is the most monumental church on the eastern side of the Adriatic, it is circular in plan, with three naves. To the eastern side of the Forum we come to the 16th-century St. Mary's Church with a Romanesque bell-tower built at the beginning of the 12th century by the Hungarian – Croatian King Koloman.
