Introducing Bath's long history from pre-Roman times to its rise & fall as a spa town. This tour introduces the general insights into the origins of Bath from ancient times as a Roman site to its more fashionable development as the destination to see & be seen by high society...and then its decline.
We will introduce the major architectural locations such as the Royal Circus, The Crescent, Charlotte square. However, where this tour differs from your typical Bath city historical tour, is we will also detail the many references made to the city's people and places in Jane Austen's literature and in her own personal family life here.
Infants and small children can ride in a pram or stroller. Service animals allowed. Public transportation options are available nearby. Suitable for all physical fitness levels. This tour lasts average 90-120 minutes. The start time suggested of 12.30 or 2pm is a default but feel free to suggest and request alternative start times, starting no earlier than 11am.
We meet outside the main entrance to the abbey, which is next to the Roman baths, Bath Lane, BA1 1LT.
