What To Expect
Because it is the hottest place on Earth (125m below sea level), Dallol is a cinder cone volcano in the Denakil Depression, although its unique geology means it lacks any of the archetypal volcanoes' looks. Erta Ale ranks as one of the most alluring and physically challenging natural attractions anywhere in Ethiopia. It is a shield volcano with a base diameter of 30 km and 1km square caldera at its summit.
