Debre Libanos Monastery and Portuguese Bridge

A visit to Debre Libanos and Portuguese bridge is a popular day trip out of Addis. The Monastery of Debre Libanos, is one of Ethiopia's most holy sites. Saint Tekle Haimanot founded the Monastery in the 13th century and the Saint is credited with the spread of Christianity throughout the central highlands. The present church, the latest in succession of structures, has stained glass windows and mural paintings. Many Ethiopians continue to make a pilgrimage and seek out the area's curative holy water against evil spirits and any health disorders. We will pick you from your hotel after breakfast for an early departure (around 7.30 hour) and leave Addis Ababa to the north. We will pass through the Entoto Hills, which offer stunning views at the capital. Plenty time is available to stop to enjoy the beautiful landscape, meet the local people busy with their daily work and make pictures.
