A Genoese Island
Tabarca Island is located in front of the city of Santa Pola. In the past the coasts of this island were a refuge for Barbary pirates, and in the 18th century, King Charles III ordered the construction of a village to house families of fishermen from Genoa who were prisoners in the city of Tabarka. Since that moment on, the island has been inhabited by Genoese people, who made possible to visit it even today.
Infants and small children can ride in a pram or stroller. Service animals allowed. Public transportation options are available nearby. Not recommended for pregnant travelers. Suitable for all physical fitness levels. The remaining time is for the travel time. Valencia to Santa Pola is 2 hours and 30 minutes by Bus. Santa Pola to Isla Tabarca is 40 minutes by Boat Ride
