The shelters of the Civil War in Almería is an underground construction. They were built to protect the inhabitants of the city from the bombardments of the time.
The shelters sheltered 40,000 people from 1937 to 1939. They are the best preserved in all of Europe. In 2022 they turned 85 years old from when their construction began in 1937.
What we will do first is watch a video that will last 13 minutes. Then some sirens will sound and then we will go down the stairs or by the elevator.
Then we will walk for 1 kilometer at a depth of 9 meters, feeling what it was like to be there 85 years ago. We will visit the warehouse, the hospital and we will see how each space has been used.
Finally, we will leave in front of the School of Art, after passing a very curious corridor.
