Alexandria was the capital of Egypt during the Greek-Roman era; so most of the sightseeing date back to that time.

The Bibliotheca Alexandrina, the modern and new library which was inaugurated in 2002, was almost built in the same place which was the ancient Library of Alexandria.
Please consider that Alexandria is a crowded city so moving from one visit to the other takes 15-20 minutes
