In the morning, you will be picked up from the hotel and head towards Abu Simbel to visit the location of the most famous temples (Great and Small Temples) of King Ramses II and his wife Queen Nefertari. The most spectacular aspect of this temple is its location in solid rock above the banks of the Nile River. The complex is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, known as the “Nubian Monuments”, which run from Abu Simbel downstream to Phil (near Aswan). It is believed that the axis of the temple was located by ancient Egyptian architects in such a way that on October 22 and February 22, the rays of the sun penetrated the sanctuary and illuminated the sculptures on the back wall, with the exception of the statue of Ptah, a god associated with the Underworld, who always remained in the dark.
Then we return to Aswan at about 13:00.
